Funding for U. M. ARMY – Texas Conference Work Camps

 

Funding for U. M. ARMY – Texas Conference work camps comes from many sources.  Participant fees and individual donations provide a large part of the budget for camp operational costs and administrative overhead. 

 

Many large corporations provide matching grants for volunteer services performed by their employees.  We are especially grateful for those volunteers who take the time to apply for these matching grants in the name of U. M. ARMY – Texas Conference.

 

Individual donations and in-kind donations of building materials and food are another important source of funding that helps us keep participant fees as low as possible.

 

Generals Club

The Generals Club is a fund raising effort of U. M. ARMY – Texas Conference designed to provide an annual source of funding that will help keep our mission trips affordable for everyone.

 

Each U. M. ARMY participant pays a modest fee to attend camp.  This fee covers only a portion of the total expenses for camp operations for a week at camp.  The escalating costs for lumber, paint, building materials, trash removal, food, worship materials, and evening recreational expenses easily exceed this amount.  With over 40 camps and more than 3,000 participants each summer, additional funding is essential.  Raising fees to cover these costs limits youth participation, particularly among those of modest means.  And limited funding also prohibits us from providing all of the needed repairs for the elderly and disabled homeowners in our work areas.

 

The Generals Club is open to individuals, businesses, churches, Sunday School classes, community service organizations, or anyone with a desire to demonstrate their support of U. M. ARMY.  Each General agrees to make an annual donation to U. M. ARMY for a 3-year period.  In doing this, each General ensures that every youth who desires to attend a U. M. ARMY – Texas Conference work camp can attend, and sufficient funds are available to cover camp operations.  Donations to U. M. ARMY – Texas Conference are tax deductible and a receipt is furnished for each gift.

3-Star  $1,000

2-Star  $   500

1-Star  $   250

 

Every Generals Club dollar is applied specifically to camp operations or used for scholarship to send a youth to camp.
