What’s New at U.M.ARMY Northeast?
Northeast to host College Camp in 2008
There’s exciting news for U.M.ARMY college age participants.
In 2008 the Northeast will host its first College Camp. The program
will use the same great U.M.ARMY experience and work team concept.
But the teams will be made up of young adults who are one full year
past high school or older.
Laurie Douglas has been a member of the U.M.ARMY family for 4 years and she has traveled as an adult participant to the college camp in Texas. We are pleased to announce that she will act as Director of our Northeast College Camp in Exeter, New Hampshire during the week of June 1-7, 2008. For questions and registration information regarding this camp, please contact Lorraine Macpherson lorraine@umarmy.org
Northeast to host Pennsylvania camp in 2008
The Northeast Board of Directors
is pleased to announce plans for a Pennsylvania camp during the week
of July 13-19, 2008. This camp is a response to the needs of groups
from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and the Washington D.C. area.
It is amazing to see the way U.M.ARMY has grown in the Northeast. With
very little marketing the word is spreading about our program. It is
part of our core principles that we will grow in a planned and responsible
way. We have worked hard to develop competent and confident camp staff
and to work closely with social service agencies to reach out in a
way that respects the needs and dignity of all clients.
Darlene Thomas has participated with her group from Shiremanstown,
PA in our Connecticut camp for the past two summers. She was instrumental
in bringing this program to the Williamsport PA area and we are pleased
to announce she will serve as Director for the Pennsylvania camp.
We encourage groups to register early for all camps as our pre-camp
inquiries indicate that space will fill to capacity very quickly.
